Meditation Courses and Mindfulness based services in County Louth

In mindfulness meditation, we are trying to achieve a mind that is stable and calm. What we begin to discover is that this calmness or harmony is a natural aspect of the mind, through mindfulness practice we are just developing and strengthening it, and eventually we are able to remain peacefully in our mind without struggling. Our mind naturally feels content.

An important point to be aware of is that when we are in a mindful state, there is still intelligence. It’s not as if we blank out. Sometimes people think that a person who is in deep meditation doesn’t know what’s going on—that it’s like being asleep. This is not the case with mindfulness meditation, in fact we are trying to “fall awake” rather than falling asleep

The benefits of Mindfulness meditation

Regular meditation can have the following benefits:

•You feel calmer and more relaxed

•You react to stressful events with greater control

•Your sleep patterns improve

•You have a greater sense of mental and physical well-being

•Feelings of anxiousness are reduced

•Your self-confidence increases

•You have a sense of fulfilment and purpose

There are many types of meditation techniques taught by various traditions. The mindfulness meditation techniques we teach in Anála Mindfulness consist of two simple but effective practices drawn from the Buddhist tradition. The pair complement each other and can be learned by anyone. The first is called the 'Mindfulness of Breathing', and is designed to help you calm you mind and integrate your energies. The second is called the ' Development of Loving Kindness' (traditionally known as the 'Metta Bhavana') and helps to develop a strong positive concern for your own welfare, and the welfare of others.

“Mindfulness practice is simple and completely feasible. Just by sitting and doing nothing, we are doing a tremendous amount.”

Mindfulness Meditation

Meditation is a technique which gives a unique quality of rest to mind and body. It allows stress and tiredness to be released in a natural way, resulting in greater energy, clarity and enjoyment of life. Meditation can also help us change the way we relate to ourselves and the world. If you suffer from stress, you can learn to calm down. If you are anxious, you can learn to relax. If anger is an issue for you, you can learn to let go of it. If you are shy, you can become more confident.
